I started in almost last place the first lap then started to really push hard passing people, group by group until I got up to the main pack which had about 5 Bingham kids and A copper hills kid or 2. I pushed passed them at about 1000m to 1100m with my eyes on jake, and that where I made my mistake, I should have waited another 100m to 150m to pass them because at about 1490m to 1520m they caught me and eventually 2 caught jake. Basically, I have found out how I Race Best. Start slow then increase the pace more and more through the end of the race. I HAVE TO START SLOW. If I don't then I don't have enough energy to finish strong. I don't know if this is just how I race the 1600m best or if it's how I should race every race. We will see if you have advice I would love to hear.

Pretty good race, I could have run better if I had run more the week before. In my 2 mile I later ran 11:25. On the last lap I really did not have to try as hard as I thought I would have to to beat the kids from Bingham and Jordan who were on my tail.

Im going to start my break now and hopefully post more and more consistently during cross-country!

Sub 5! Nice way to finish off the spring!

Other than the 800 meters, pretty much all races are best run off even or negative splits.

Congratulations on a strong couple of races.

I agree with Jake. It is hard to be patient but if you start smart and have the heart and drive to know you are stronger than you think you can find another gear at the end of a race.

Keep up the great training.
